Rockin' the Pastel

TO PASTEL OR NOT TO PASTEL

This trend may not be for everyone, but the nice thing about this one is that it can be as subtle or as bright as you want! I am talking about pastel hair color.  I am loving the pastels! They are so beautiful and so much fun.  If you are not as keen on trying this out permanently, you can do a test run with the Kevin Murphy Color.Bugs. Color.Bugs come in purple, pink, orange, yellow, white and bronze. We have all seen Kelly Osborne rocking the pastel violet on E! and it really sets off her eyes and skin tone.  More recently Nicole Richie has been seen with the pretty violet color as well.  If you do not want to go all out coloring your entire head in a pastel tone, you can always start with a few pieces and make an informed decision from there.  Like I said it may not be for everyone, but it is always fun to step out of your comfort zone and do something shiny and new! <3 Cam

Kevin Murphy Train.Me

Had a very special few days with a group of very talented hairstylists from my Kevin Murphy team.  We learned 4 new hairstyles and a lot of new great ideas for spreading Kevin Murphy <3 all over our North America.  I am very excited to get back behind the chair and inspire all of my clients with the new looks and amazing new products we have to offer. This picture was taken at the Marriott Hotel downtown Seattle surrounded by my team and style.masters. I felt so full of love, inspiration and light.  There is much excitement with what 2015 brings! Bring on the new year!!! Oh wait, we are already a few months in ;)

Accessorize Your Life

Trending: Accessories

For those of us who love to spice up our outfits with some accessories, have I got a treat for you...  I know I have too many purses, shoes and jewels in my repertoire, but it sure does not stop me from buying more! While browsing the internet for some trendy, new, fashion forward accessories I happened upon www.elle.com. I really enjoy this site because so many of the "fashionista" options are a little over the top for many people. On Elle's website the options are a little more toned down.  I find that there are very few websites that are more reasonable, tapping into what I would actually wear to the salon, so that my clients won't say, "since when is that in style?" I normally would then reply,  "it's on the runway" throw it in the back of my closet and never look at it again!  I am finding that the latest trends in accessories are channeling the late 60s early 70s, not only in accessories but also in clothing and hair. I really enjoy these classic looks coming back in a more modernized feel.

I found all three of these options among many others.  Starting clockwise from the top left is a beautiful checkered, top handle purse by Orla Kiely.  The bold colors would be a great way to set off an outfit that is on the more basic side or even with vibrant colors as well. The next accessory is the fringed cross body purse by Sass & Bide. As you can see it goes great with a bold pattern but would also make a great simple statement piece with your casual outfit as well.  Finally the bottom image of the white ankle bootie by Paul Smith is a retro flashback that would look great with a cute little baby doll style-black dress and would also make a great addition to those bold buttoned, high waisted, dark wash jeans.

THE PERFECT AT HOME BLOWOUT
My new FAVORITE product is Smooth.Again by Kevin Murphy. I know I have already posted about this fabulous product but I cannot rave about it enough.  With our weather here in the Pacific Northwest, a lot of people need a product that is smoothing and helps eliminate frizz. Easy.Rider is another great one that also helps with eliminating frizz, but for a smoothed down beautiful blowout look at home, I recommend Smooth.Again.  Steps to a beautiful salon quality blowout at home goes as follows...
Tools you will need: medium sized round brush, blow dryer preferably with a director, clips to section your hair, no static wide tooth comb, a smoothing brush, medium size curling iron (1" barrel) and freshly washed hands
Products you will need: Smooth.Again and Session.Spray

Towel dry your hair until your hair is not dripping water, start by blow drying your hair and use your fingers to pull hair out at the root and follow with your director root to ends.  Do not keep your dryer in the same place for too long it could cause damage to your hair. move through your hair with your fingers and tipping your head for side to side to assure you are getting your hair dried evenly.  Once your hair is about 20% dry, apply Smooth.Again to your hair mid-length to ends and twist your hair into a low pony tail, while working the product through your hair. Time to section your hair out.  I recommend 3 parts. A halo on the top, a 2 inch section through the middle and leave the bottom out. Now back to the blow dryer and grab your brush. Starting with the bottom section, round brush your hair to desired direction and smoothness, continue with the middle and top section.  With completely dry hair start taking vertical sections from front to back with your 1" barrel curling iron.  If your iron is not a wand, do not use the tong on your iron, just wrap the hair with your hand. Work your way to the center back of your head and start over from front to back on the opposite side of your head. If your sections are a little too thick break the sections up from bottom to top.  Normally if the hair is falling out of your hand and cannot be wrapped it means you have too thick of a section. A very important detail in doing this style is to make sure the hair heats up enough so that you can barely touch it and that you do not mess with the sections until they have cooled down.  With your Session.Spray, lightly spray your hair all over. While your Session.Spray is setting, grab your wide tooth comb and start combing through your hair.  Do not fret, the style will come together and you can mold it with your comb and your smoothing brush. The beauty of the Session.Spray is, that it has memory resins. Also because you set your hair so well with the curling iron and let your hair cool it will stay in place! Mold your hair as you wish to desired style and look. I can only guess that once you have done this, you will be looking into the eyes of a supermodel with fabulous hair... Now get to it so you can feel like a goddess with fabulous hair!!!  <3 Cam

I have been talking with a lot of clients about what they want to change most about their lives.  The answer from most of my ladies is, more time to work out.  The answer from most of my men is, more time with family.  Now both of these can happen, if you start with a simple workout in the morning. A little work out first thing is the best way to start your day off with a spring in your step. Here is a simple workout to start with. I call it the 10s...

10 jumping jacks
10 crunches
10 push-ups
10 burpees
10 calf raises
10 squats
10 reverse lunges

Start with 10 and up your reps when it gets easier. This is definitely a great jumping off point into more vigorous exercises.  We all have to start somewhere and tomorrow is a new day!  The rest of your life starts tomorrow.  Happy Wednesday <3 CAM
